Cy Ranch Sweeps Championships

MINUTE MAID PARK:  After its JV squad completed a late inning comeback for its own championship victory, the pressure was on for the Cy Ranch Mustangs Varsity team in the finals of the Houston TASO Scholarship Tournament against Foster.  The Mustangs responded with a 5 inning, 8-0 run-rule victory that should put the rest of the Houston Area on notice that this team is ready for the prime-time.

After a scoreless first inning, Chris Hansen broke the tie with a 2nd inning home run into the Crawford Boxes.  That would be all the Cy Ranch needed, as starting pitcher Curtis Jones was solid in a complete game shutout.

In the 3rd, Cy Ranch sent eight hitters to the plate in a four run outburst.  The Mustangs were active on the base-paths causing multiple Foster defensive miscues.  Ashford Fulmer got things started with a one-out walk, then promptly stole two bases before scoring on an errant throw.

In the 4th, more aggressive base running set the tone for Cy Ranch to tack on an additional three runs.  The first three batters to come to the plate all scored for the team in blue and gold and that would be enough to secure the eight run lead and the mercy rule victory.
