2013 WIFFLEBALL SEASON

 

 

 

WEEK 1

 

 

BLUE JAYS  3   vs   BALLBUSTERS  0

 
In game 1 of the first doubleheader of the day, the Blue Jays took on the new team the BallBusters. Facing off against each other  last years CY Young Winner Michael Harley for the Blue Jays against Rookie Tony Gonzales (5ip 3ER 9Ks of the BallBusters. Tony had the Blue Jays guessing for the first couple of innigs until Michael Harley came up and knock solo homerun to rightfield. That was all the Bluejays needed as Harley threw the first No hitter of the season. New rookie for the Blue Jays Kyle Wiser had 3 hits and showed why he should be in the ROY voting this year.

BLUE JAYS 14  vs  BALLBUSTERS  0
 
In game 2 of these 2 teams meeting during the 1st week, Blue Jays pitcher JJ crumbley went up against BallBusters rokkie Dustin Eldridge ( 1ip 9H 10 ER 1K). This game got out of control early for the Dustin and the Ballbusters as walks really effected the first inning. The Blue Jays put up 10 in the first inning as Kyle Wiser had 4 hits with 5 RBIs and Michael Harley had 2 Homeruns. Blue Jays sophmore pitcher JJ Crumbley (4 ip 12Ks) came out proving why he deserved to be ROY of last year by throwing another NO HITTER for the Blue Jays.

BANDITS  7  vs  BRAVES  0

 

Brandits took on the Braves in our 2nd doubleheader of the day. 2012 ROY Adam Rizzo took the mound for the Brandits and faced off against Verteran pitcher Bill Murphy. Rizzo ( 6 ip 4H 2BBs 13Ks) threw his first shutout of the year and Homered for the Bandits to give him all the cushion he needed. Matt Coryea led the offense with 4 hits and the Bandits took Game One 7 to 0. Murphy led the Braves with 3 hits.

Player of the Game: Adam Rizzo: 6 ip 4H 2BBs 13Ks, 1-6 1Hr 6Rbis

 

 

BANDITS  16  vs  BRAVES  19

 

In their 2nd meeting of the day, Bandits Captain Derek Linderman (1 Ip 15ER and 17BBs 1K) took the mound against rookie Matt Markowski( 4 ip 13H 12ER 5 BB). Linderman started the game off rough walking 17 guys and giving up 15 ERs. Rookie Gary Dobkin hit a grandslam off of Linderman to knock him out of the game and put the Braves up early. The Bandits battled back and put some runs on the scoreboard  with Rizzo and Coryea each having 6 hits with 6 RBIs. With the game within reach for the Bandits John Bertram made the play of the day robbing Derek Lindermans grandslam and falling over the fence. John Bertram(3-6 3Rbis) and Gary Dobkin(1-4 HR 7RBIs) led the offense and the Braves win their first of the year.

BULLS  2   vs  COCKS   1

 

Last years runner up Rays, changing their names to Bulls hoping for some new luck this year, took on the Cocks. Senior Veteran Bill Dearing ( 6 ip 8H 2ER 10ks) took the mound for the Cocks and faced off against the Bulls ace Chris Harley (6 in 3H 1ER 17 Ks). The first couple of innings not much happen with both aces throwing shoutouts. Finally the Cocks got to Harley, Freddy Mendez knocked a triple off the wall and it was followed by John Collins RBI single. The lead didnt last long as the Bulls scored one the next inning with Chris Harley hitting an RBI single. Harley followed it up with another RBI single in the 5th and finish the game for the bulls shutting out the Cocks offense.

MVP of the Game: Chris Harley: 6 in 3H 1ER 17 Ks, 5-9 2 RBIs

 

 

COCKS  0   vs   BULLS   11

 

In the final game of the day, The Bulls sent pitcher Shane Effertz to the mound against Cocks pitcher John Collins. Collins (2 ip 2H 5 Ks) and Effertz swapped 2 innings of shutout ball. Miguel Feliz, back from a 2 year retirement, came in for the Cocks and couldnt find the rhythm as he gave up 7 runs to the Bulls. Shane Efferts (5 ip 6 BBs 15Ks) continued to cruise and finished the game with his first no hitter of the yeay. Chris Harley and Shane Efferts led the way with 7 combined hits and 7 combined RBIs.
