Tournament Underway

Despite Mother Nature not cooperating, the 2017 MCBL Postseason Tournament is underway.

In the opening play-in (e.g., "sudden death") round, the # 6 seed BCC Big Train Stars enjoyed a good day at the plate and beat the #3 seed DigIn Baseball 14 - 4.  The # 5 seed Diamond Pros barely edged the # 4 seed Baltimore Chop 5 - 4.

In the semi-finals.....which are a best 2 out of 3......the # 1 seed Gaithersburg Giants beat the # 6 BCC Big Train Stars in two close games......5 - 4 and 6 - 5. 

In the other semi-finals, the Diamond Pros used a grand slam homer to propel them past the # 2 seed Putty Hill Panthers 9 - 4.  But Putty Hill came back with several stellar defensive plays to even the series by beating the Diamond Pros in the second game 6 - 2.   The deciding game is scheduled (weather permitting) for Friday evening.

If the forecasts hold true and we receive the rain we're expecting (and we get rained out), we'll plan to reschedule for Sunday (assuming we can get a field into playable shape) or Monday evening.

The winner will take on # 1 seed Gaithersburg Giants in a best 2 out of 3 finals.  Should be exciting.
