Regular Season Ends

 

With all of Tuesday's games washed out due to mother nature, the 2018 MCBL regular season has come to an end.   For those of you lucky enough to catch some of the action, it was quite a season with a record number of runs crossing the plate.

 

Based upon the regular season final standings, the 2018 MCBL postseason tournament seedings are set as follows:

 

          # 1  :  Maryland Monarchs

          # 2  :  Putty Hill Panthers

          # 3  :  Gaithersburg Giants

          # 4  :  BCC Big Train Stars

          # 5  :  Baltimore Chop

          # 6  :  Koa Sports Green Wave

 

The tournament will be played at the new Blandair Park in Columbia, MD.....using two fields.  Both fields are all-turf (except for the pitcher's mound), so hopefully mother nature won't play too much havoc with the tournament games.

 

The first round is a sudden-death play-in round with # 6 Koa Sports Green Wave at # 3 Gaithersburg Giants.  The other play-in game features # 5 Baltimore Chop at # 4 BCC Big Train Stars.

 

Four of the six teams in the tournament have previously won a MCBL postseason tournament including defending champion Putty Hill Panthers.   This is BCC's fifth straight appearance in the postseason while the regular season champion Maryland Monarchs are making their first appearance in the postseason.

 

With the surge in offense this past season, the postseason should be interesting.
