Tournament Update

The Baltimore Clippers handed the Maryland Monarchs their first tournament loss beating them 4-1 at Johns Hopkins University on Friday night.

 

This forces a second "winner take all" championship game for the 2022 MCBL Postseason Tournament which will be held at 7:00 pm at Laytonia Regional Field.

Topsy Turvy Tournament down to Two

The home team magic for the Koa Sports Green Wave finally ran out as the Baltimore Clippers staged a dramatic 9th inning comeback that resulted in the Clippers winning 12-10.

 

Thus, the first 2022 MCBL Postseason Tournament championship game will see the # 9 seeded Maryland Monarchs visiting the # 6 seeded Baltimore Clippers.  Weather permitting, it will occur on Friday, July 22nd at 6:45pm at Johns Hopkins University.

 

​​​​​​​The reason the undefeated Monarchs are not the home team, is due to tournament rules that state the higher seeded team (e.g., Clippers) will be the home team......unless a second (e.g., "if necessary") game is required. 

 

Should the Clippers prevail, it would be the Monarchs first loss in the tournament and a second championship game will be played on Saturday, most likely at 6:00 pm at Laytonia.  The Monarchs would be the home team.

 

This is the first tournament championship appearance for the Clippers and the second for the Monarchs.  The Clippers have won four tournament games in a row.  The Monarchs have won four tournament games in a row.  Something's gotta give!!

 

The number 6 seed and the number 9 seed in the finals!!!   Wow!!
