Tournament Underway!

The 2024 MCBL Post-Season Tournament is underway.........and already three of the top four seeds have lost.

 

In the tournament opener, the #8 seed DigIn Baseball fell behind to the #1 seed Rockville Express.   They didn't panic and kept digging away.....to earn a come from behind 6-4 victory.  

 

DigIn will next play the #5 seed BBA Eagles who upset the #4 seed Maryland Monarchs 8-2 in the second game of the tournament.   Rockville will take on the Monarchs in another game on Sunday.

 

In the third upset of the day, the #6 Baltimore Clippers beat the #3 Putty Hill Panthers 5-1.  The Clippers take on the Baltimore Chop (who beat Koa 6-2) while the Panthers will host Koa on Sunday.

 

This means that either the #5 seed or the #8 seed will be in the winner's bracket finals on Monday (weather permitting).  

 

Oh yeah...the average runs scored in the first round : 4.25 per team (26 % below the season average).
