Regular Season Complete…..Tournament Set.

The very competitive regular season is now complete.  

 

Congratulations to the MCBL 2024 Regular Season champions….the Rockville Express.  This is their first ever regular season championship.

 

How competitive was it?

 

Well……this year's  regular season champion had the lowest winning percentage (.679) in the last 16 years.

Well……the average number of runs scored per team per game was 5.76.   This is 11 % lower than the average of the previous 3 years (6.51).   Since runs were harder to come by, games were closer and more competitive.

Well……in order to determine the number two seed for the upcoming tournament (Baltimore Chop)….we had to go to the third tiebreaker.   The Chop and Putty Hill each won two games against each other and they each won two games against the higher seeded Rockville Express.  On the third tiebreaker, the Chop gave up one fewer run to Putty Hill than Putty Hill gave up to the Chop.

 

Speaking of the post-season, the 2024 MCBL Post-Season Tournament will start on Saturday, July 20th with the following seedings:

 

     #1 :  Rockville Express

     #2 :  Baltimore Chop

     #3 :  Putty Hill Panthers

     #4 :  Maryland Monarchs

     #5 :  BBA Eagles

     #6 :  Baltimore Clippers

     #7 :  Koa Sports Green Wave

     #8 :  DigIn Baseball

 

The tournament will be a standard double elimination tournament and will continue (weather permitting) thru Sunday, July 28th.
