The Rockville Express have been on quite the roll lately. The club added to their winning ways tonight with a 5-2 defeat of Dig In at Montgomery Blair High School.
The team got ahead early with RBI hits in the first two innings by cleanup hitter Brody Lindsey and newcomer Ty Hames. In the third, left fielder Will Gisrael hit a solo homer to make it 3-0. One inning later, designated hitter Jeremy Patchett hit a two run blast as the Express rolled to a 5-0 lead.
Ty Hames hits an RBI single in the second inning
Starting pitcher Jack Kodrin tossed four scoreless innings, but the momentum began to shift in the fifth inning as two runs crossed. Entering with the bases loaded and nobody out, Grant Labelle escaped the inning by only allowing 2 inherited runners to score.
Labelle was named player of the game for his performance. The righty earned a four inning save, allowing no runs, one hit, three walks, with five strikouts. After the game, Labelle discussed his performance with us.
"Coming in that tight situation, the key was matching their competitiveness. The shift (of momentum) was going their way and I needed to go right at them" Labelle said.

Grant Labelle recorded a four inning save
The Express have now won six of their last seven games. When asked about this, Labelle said he believes this kind of winning is an expectation for the Express.
"I think just of finding ourselves, getting into a groove and once playoffs hit we'll be ready to go." he said.
The Express will look to keep this hot streak going into Sunday's home doubleheader at Laytonia against the Baltimore Clippers.
