Were they meant to be broken?
June 26, 2026
After 26 days, the MCBL regular season is about 48 % complete. And with all the rain we’ve experienced, the remaining 52 % will have to be completed within the next 22 days as the season ends at 11:59 pm on Thursday, July 17th.
At this almost halfway point, we thought we’d take a quick look at the statistics to see if anyone is on pace or has a chance to break an MCBL record.
Keep in mind, conventional wisdom says that batters will actually improve slightly as the season progresses while pitchers may begin to show signs of declining.
Triples : Record is 5
Putty Hill’s Zach Stolz has already tallied 4 triples. One more and he ties the MCBL record.
Stolen Bases : Record is 33
The Maryland Monarchs Dom Hicks has 15 stolen bases……including 14 in his last 7 games. He could have plenty of chances as the Monarchs have 16 games remaining to be played.
Batting Average (21-40 ABs) : Record is .560
If the season ended today, Will Gisriel of the Rockville Express would find his way into the record books as he holds a .560 batting average after 25 ABs.
Pitching Wins : Record is 6
Brian McDermott of DigIn Baseball has already notched 3 wins in only 4 game appearances.
Pitching ERA (10-20 innings) : Record is .000 (8 players)
This one might get very interesting. Currently there are about a dozen players who have pitched at least 4 innings without giving up an earned run:
Tayshun Bell : Olney Dusters
Austin Downs : Baltimore Clippers
Aiden Dubetsky : Rockville Express
Jack Kodrin : Rockville Express
Sean Murphy : Maryland Monarchs
Braeden Pitrowski : Maryland Monarchs
Austin Sealing : Baltimore Chop
Kurtis MacKenzie : Baltimore Chop
Noah Palmer : Baltimore Chop
Will Hagan : Baltimore Chop
Jordan Bonhoff : Baltimore Chop
John Smith : BBA Eagles
Jaiden Wismer : BBA Eagles
As usual, it could be interesting.
See ya at the ballfield!
