Express drop playoff opener, face elimination today
7/20/2025by Aaron Freimann

Yesterday afternoon's playoff opener against BBA did not go as planned for the Rockville Express. The team dropped the game 10-1, as the Eagles offense fired on all cylenders.

BBA managed 10 runs on 12 hits, with 3 coming in a frustrating 2nd inning for starter Eddie Frye. Allowing almost no hard contact, the BBA managed each of the runs off him by taking advantage of the whole field and running the bases well. Brett Lucas made a stellar play in foul ground to escape the inning.

The strong play of Ty Hames and Grant Labelle were the highlights of the game for Rockville. Labelle tossed 2 hitless, scoreless innings in relief, while Hames went 3-3 with 2 doubles and drove in the lone Express run with a solo home run in the 7th inning.

Rockville's loss means that they now face elimination moving forward. The Express will take on the Mayland Monarchs tonight at Laytonia field as they continue their playoff run.
