ST. LOUIS - To stay safe on Missouri roadways, the Missouri Department of Transportation is urging motorists to pay attention and avoid distractions.
"Our law enforcement partners are continuing the investigation on yesterday's fatal crash on eastbound I-64. Preliminary information indicates driver inattention appears to be a factor. We want to remind motorists to stay focused while driving and eliminate any distractions. MoDOT and our law enforcement partners cannot protect against driver inattention. That is the responsibility of each motorist," said Tom Blair, assistant district engineer.
There has been no significant change in the number of crashes on eastbound I-64 between Mason Road and Interstate 270 since the western closure of Interstate 64 in January.
Approximately 60,000 vehicles travel eastbound in this area daily. During peak travel times (3 to 7 p.m.) 15,000 vehicles travel the area. Nearly 180 of those are commercial vehicles. Traffic volume in this area is down by about 6,000 daily since January.
After a very detailed search and interview process to secure a new Varsity Coach, The Board has selected Mr. Rob Kunz to take over the Varsity Team. Coach Kunz brings with him a solid background coaching both at the varsity level and at the AAA Midget Major level. We feel fortunate to have Rob join our organization.
The Board has elected to not increase league Fees this year. Please refer to the handout that gives the fees and payment dates and information.
As indicated at last years Parent Meeting, the 2008-2009 season would see the inception of a Jersey Purchase Program. As most of you are aware, virtually every Youth Hockey has been doing this for some time. There is a separate handout that details all of the information regarding the program.
The club will continue the annual Trivia Night and or Night at the Mouse Races. The date has changed from Nov 1 to Jan 31 as the club will also hold its 1st Annual Eureka Hockey Golf Tournament to be held at the Paradise Valley Golf Club on October 11. Please start planning on getting a foursome of golfers committed to play and we also need allot of help locating items for the Silent Auction and other prizes to be given away. There will be a separate handout and a short discussion given by Allan Gardner, Golf Committee Chairman.
As in years past, the reason this club functions as well and as smoothly as it does can be contributed to the many parents who either head up a committee, or join as a Team Member to a committee. We will need allot of help with the following: AD Book, Trivia Night, Golf Tournament, Apparel, and coordination of the Jersey Program. There will be sign up sheets during this meeting.
The JV team All Star Game is Wednesday, 3/12, 7:15 PM -
Effective
This decision was not easy for either side, but is in the best interest of the club and Mr. Haywood’s future endeavors.
The Board of Directors wish to thank Mr. Haywood and his staff for their efforts put forth to elevate this organization to where we are respected throughout the Mid States and Thompson Leagues.
Coach Haywood will be present at the upcoming banquet to hand out the end of season awards and to say a final farewell to the team.
The Board of Directors are in an active search and interview process for a new Head Coach, and if anyone knows of a prospective candidate, please forward any information to one of the board members.
Thanks
Mike Kraus – Board President

ST. LOUIS - The Missouri Department of Transportation has canceled the closure of the westbound Daniel Boone Bridge scheduled for this weekend.
The closure of the bridge has been rescheduled for approximately late January 2008, weather permitting.
This closure is to allow crews to complete maintenance work on the bridge. This work is required to ensure the bridge remains serviceable. The scope of the work was determined when bridge inspectors, using the under-bridge inspection truck, inspected the Daniel Boone Bridge in August.
Motorists may experience delays during this work and are encouraged to use alternate routes. Plan ahead to avoid work zones by calling 1-888-ASK-MODOT or visiting our website at www.modot.org.
