JV Head Coach - Louis Humphrey
On behalf of the entire JV Coaching Staff I would like to take this time to welcome you to the 2016 Football Season. As you may or may not have noticed there have been quite a few changes made to the Coaching staff over the past several years including myself as JV Head Coach. We are excited about the changes and we are very enthusiastic about the upcoming season.
Coaching is a tremendous responsibility one in which I take very seriously. We as coaches want to produce great young men both on and off the field. We want to teach life skills that take them beyond their playing days here at Thomas Dale. Developing and demonstrating the highest level of character, discipline, and leadership required to succeed is key both in sports and life.
As a staff we have collectively set out to accomplish various goals this year. First and foremost we take pride in the Thomas Dale Tradition and as we’ve been saying since the 2013 offseason “The Pride is Back”! Below is a list of goals we’ve set out to achieve in 2016 as we move forward.
- Create and instill a Positive atmosphere.
- Teach self-respect and dignity.
- Emphasize the importance of Mentoring.
- Teach players to think beyond themselves & more about the Team/Program.
- Emphasize the importance of Sportsmanship.
- Teach our Student Athletes how to deal with adversity by showing them it’s alright to make a mistake and giving them the opportunity to learn from mistakes as well as the importance of moving on once a mistake has been made.
- Instill self-discipline and an awareness of the value of preparation.
- Teaches our Student Athletes how to deal productively with criticism.
- Provide leadership opportunities.
- Emphasize the importance of safety.
- Teach them a sense of community and the importance of giving back.
- Develop skills for handling success and failure.
- Emphasize the importance of Character & Integrity.
- Be available as a Coaching Staff.
Participation in our Program can clearly be a constructive force in the lives of our student athletes. It is important to us as a staff that you the parents recognize that we believe Football presents a unique opportunity for introducing and reinforcing positive life lessons which will prepare our student athletes for the future.
As the Head Coach of the JV squad and as a coach for many years I want our Student Athletes to understand just how much they have to gain by participating in our Program. We value and emphasize high ethical and moral standards.
