Recruiting

NCAA Baseball Recruiting 101

Contact Period:
A period of time when D1 schools can be out recruiting student-athletes.

Quiet Period:
A quiet period is in place on these dates listed below for Division 1 baseball programs. The Quiet Period is designed to keep college coaches at home. They are not permitted to be on the road recruiting. They cannot attend any games, outside workouts, tryouts or other camps. Programs can run camps on their own campus and are allowed to bring recruits on campus during this time. They can also host official or unofficial visits as well as bring prospects on campus to watch football games.

Division 2 baseball programs, there is not a Quiet Period in place at this time.

Dead Period:
A period of time when D1 schools must have absolutely no face to face contact with any student-athletes.

August 1st: The official date a Division I school can put their offer of athletically related financial aid in writing to a prospect. This date does not keep schools from making offers before hand, but the school must wait until this date to put the offer in writing to the prospect.

At the Division 2 level, there is not a date in place for coaches to wait for a written offer, but prospects must be registered with the NCAA Eligibility Center and on the schools internal list to follow on the NCAA Eligibility Center. All prospects must be registered on the NCAA Eligibility Center website.
